In the registry of the restarted system, I discover the registry cardinal but neither UpperFilters nor LowerFilters.

How-do-you-do there, Anannya.  I am having the same issue with the aforementioned (new DVD drive (Asus DRW-24F1ST)) drive and OS is 8.1 Pro.  I've plant the registry entry as described but in that location were no UpperFilters or LowerFilters entries.  What is "Method four"?  No link in the postal service that I could see.
Thank you,
Ken

Hello Anannya,

I accept a similar problem with my TSST Corp Writemaster CD/DVD drive. My Win eight.1 PC seems to know the drive is in that location  -  it shows upwards under Device Director as working properly and the driver is up to engagement and enabled. Strangely, though, it is non shown anywhere under Devices and Printers in Control Console and trying to add together it as a new device produces no results.  It tin also be establish in Windows Explorer.  When I insert a disc and click on CD/DVD Drive D: under Windows Explorer, nonetheless, the disc is ejected and I go the message "Insert a disc.  Delight insert a disc into drive D:"

I've tried the Regedit solution but no UpperFilters or LowerFilters tin can be found under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Organization\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318.

The CD/DVD bulldoze has always worked until fairly recently only I accept no thought which event, software update etc if any might have contributed to its malfunction.  Short of taking a trip to my computer tech and having the drive replaced I'grand at a loss every bit to what to side by side to bring the drive back to life.  Can y'all suggest anything?

Many thank you,

Grant

Aye same result here. Asus G751Jy /westward Bluray option. Drive is recognized by Windows but whatsoever disk put in says to "insert disk" when I try to read it.

Dual booted to RHEL (Linux) and information technology reads fine so a Win driver issue for sure. No hardware problems.

Tried the above. I had upper filter and lower filter in the registry and I deleted them. Didn't practise anything other than now another programme I take monitoring disks tells me I no longer have a DVD drive.

Microsoft at it'south best.
